Alpha Canberra Hotel & Apartments freehold sold to Geocon - ResortBrokers & Burgess Rawson
ResortBrokers, in conjunction with Burgess Rawson, has sold the freehold going concern of Alpha Canberra Hotel & Apartments.
ResortBrokers’ longtime South Coast NSW agent Russell Rogers and Burgess Rawson’s Guy Randell sold the hotel to one of Canberra’s largest property development companies, Geocon, which will rebrand it Abode Tuggeranong.
Occupying an almost 10,000 sqm lot on Rowland Rees Crescent in Greenway, 20 minutes’ drive southwest of Parliament House, the 4-star 100-key hotel has a mix of rooms, studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments.
ResortBrokers says it received enormous interest in the offering with 146 enquiries, generating multiple inspections and offers.
“We’re delighted a freehold hotel of this rare scale in our nation’s capital has been sold to one of Canberra’s most prominent property companies. The location, size and facilities were a good fit with Geocon’s investment criteria,” Mr Rogers told The Hotel Conversation.
“With 100 keys, the hotel is well placed to take advantage of the anticipated surge in visitors to the area once the new Canberra Arena, located further along on Rowland Rees Crescent, opens in the next few years.” END
