Marissa von Stieglitz
Marissa is ResortBrokers’ longest-serving team member and an accomplished broker in her own right, proudly representing her home state of Tasmania.
In 2024, she was promoted to National Sales Manager, a pivotal leadership role overseeing ResortBrokers’ national team of more than 30 brokers. Marissa is frequently on the road, mentoring new agents and working alongside the team to drive performance serving ResortBrokers’ clients across the country.
As a broker, Marissa has personally transacted accommodation asset sales worth over $30 million in total. Her notable deals include iconic Tasmanian properties such as Cradle Mountain Highlanders, Franklin Manor in Strahan and the Lufra Hotel and Apartments at Eaglehawk Neck. She has also brokered major caravan park deals, including Snug Beach Cabin & Caravan Park, Strahan Beach Tourist Park, Scamander Sanctuary Holiday Park and Low Head Tourist Park.
Her reach extends beyond Tasmania, collaborating with fellow brokers on interstate transactions such as the management rights of Murray River Resort (Moama), Bayview Tower (Yeppoon) and freehold sales of Abode37 (Emerald) and Chinchilla Motor Inn.
Marissa began her career at ResortBrokers in 2013 in the finance department, quickly proving herself indispensable. Her initiative, tenacity and solutions-focused mindset led to her taking on increasingly complex and strategic roles.
“I was very fortunate to learn from the best in the business, ResortBrokers’ Founder Ian Crooks and Managing Director Trudy Crooks,” says Marissa.
“What they taught me about this business are skills that can’t be learned in a textbook. Everything from customer service, acting honesty and transparently, right through to the nuts and bolts of putting an accommodation deal together. It’s the best on-the-job training I could ever have hoped for. It’s really satisfying now to be able to pass that experience on to our new brokers.”
With a lifelong passion for tourism and hospitality, Marissa studied Hospitality and Tourism Management at Drysdale Institute before working with a European travel wholesaler. Though based in Queensland since 2003, she remains deeply connected to Tasmania and returns as often as possible.
“I’m passionate about Tasmania,” she says. “Tourist accommodation in the state has completely transformed since I was a student at Drysdale. It’s becoming increasingly sophisticated with the influx of high-end hotels in Hobart and other destinations, but there’s still a healthy market for families like mine who like to camp and caravan. Tasmania has something for everyone, which makes the accommodation property business an exciting one to be a part of. I really enjoy the satisfaction of setting up a first-time buyer in a great accommodation business, and selling great businesses for owners and operators to set them up for what’s next.”
Outside work, Marissa is all about family. She and husband Mick share four daughters, who keep them on their toes with endless sports and activities. During any free time they love to get away camping across Australia.
